Fire rescue crews resumed the search Sunday morning for a missing hiker in Waipio Valley.
The hiker, a 22-year-old woman, apparently became separated from her group that was just 20 to 30 minutes into a hike to Hiilawe Falls on Saturday, according to the Hawaii County Fire Department, which responded to the report shortly before 5 p.m.
Chopper 1 searched an area stretching from Waipio Valley Road to the falls until nightfall on Saturday, but found no sign of the woman, according to the department. Rescue crews resumed the search at first light Sunday.
